The poet Rilke said: "To write poetry is to be alive." That is to say, to write is to stimulate the imagination, and to stimulate the imagination is to know ourselves, to feel the world more intensely, to experience it through the minds and hearts of others, to see the greater whole of which we are a part.

Wolf at the Door was created to bring the wildness of imagination into our everyday lives. This synthesis can heal and energise us. It can renew our love of life, transform our communication with others, give us the insight into our lives and relationships that can bring about further renewal.

How do we work together?

Our workshops use games, meditation, guided fantasy, discussion and group assignments to activate the imagination and release energy that has been locked up by years of negative conditioning. Some of the most important elements are the friendship, trust and communication which usually develops quickly within the group. This gives students the confidence to try things out and communicate ideas without fear of being judged or criticised inappropriately.

Our retreats are open to everyone regardless of writing experience, and explore both poetry and prose.
